Cross-country skiier Have those resolutions ("Lose weight!" "Go to the gym every day!" "Never eat chips again!" etc.) left you feeling like a failure?

Instead of resolving to take draconian measures, start by taking stock of your daily health habits. Find small, easy-to-make changes which will be manageable on a daily basis. For instance:
  • A 15-minute walk each day is a small slice of time. With no other changes, this alone would yield a 10-pound weight loss by the end of the year.
  • Try stretching to the evening news.
  • Take a water bottle and a piece of fruit every time you get in the car.
  • Put the multi-vitamins next to the toothpaste so you remember to take them.
  • Do a set of crunches every time you check
    your e-mail.
You get the idea! The key is to tie the health activity to something you're already doing, until a new habit is formed. Good luck!
